I’ve been socializing on the Internet since the early 90s when I met Marlon Brando, who became a friend, in a chat room on AOL…
Amy Alkon’s not joking; she’s been very respectful of Brando’s memory by not blogging much about him, but someday I hope she blogs the story about the time he took her […]

I’ve never met a home schooled kid who was not independent, wise beyond their years and an academic achiever.
When we have kids, we’ll probably homeschool (if our schedules allow, which we will break our necks to ensure they do. If we can’t manage it for some reason, we’ll send them to the LycĂ©e where Antoine […]

Sometimes, after a long day of hearing about software (bleh) and strategies (ugh) and ’stakeholders’ (double ugh), working in very masculine environments, I really need something cute to revive me. So I bought myself this print, and this one, from theblackapple (who blogs here).
I mean, check out her living room! And […]

…but still have not heard from an actual police officer. And the email I got was in response to one I sent, asking for help in progressing the case. Just FYI, as I know many people are checking back for updates. Thank you all.

I heard Mark Kurlansky, author of a book about the wonderfulness of nonviolence (including the opinion that there was no need to get tough with Germany during WWII, which he maintains was an unjust war), being given a sloppy bj of an interview by Andrew Marr on Radio 4 the other morning. It was […]

Someone calling himself Rob (IP: 219.88.217.206 , 219-88-217-206.jetstream.xtra.co.nz) left this comment this morning:

I will be presiding over the lunchtime social media roundtable at VNU’s Online Information Conference tomorrow at Olympia. I’ve also roped the affable Antony Mayfield into helping me out there, so if you’re going to be at the conference, do stop in to our area and say hello.

Same story as yesterday. Again, the assault was on Friday, which is when I reported the crime and was assured that the investigating officer would be in touch very soon, as time is of the essence in these things, they wanted the picture I took, etc.
I did, though, receive a letter from Camden Victim […]

Sara Astruc:
God’s Love We Deliver prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.
Thanks to Sara’s heads-up, one cook on my Christmas list is getting a limited edition Burberry apron, which the design house has produced exclusively for […]

Not a day goes by when I don’t read a column or opinion piece in the ‘mainstream’ press and think, “Yeesh, I read better blog posts than this many times a day.” This piece about how people online have egos (try to stop your eyes from rolling back in your head as you read it), […]

This is a story worth following. Treacher sent it to me, with the following note (which is a better synopsis than I can be bothered to give):
Some asshole ran over this guy’s bicycle, he got the guy’s license number, the cops didn’t do shit, he wrote up his story and sent it to this blog, […]

I was attacked on Friday, and while I didn’t necessarily expect to hear from the investigating officer at the weekend, I certainly expected to hear from them by close of business today. At the very least, I was promised they would want the picture from me ASAP. I guess ASAP means “whenever”.
