I’m simply snowed under here with work, meetings, and tonight’s Cincinnati Salon. Responding to comments will have to wait until tomorrow (and in the meantime, do feel free to leave more of them, but understand that I may not get to sifting through the 400+ currently waiting for moderation - mostly spam, which is why […]

Cincinnati Salon tonight!

World-renowned thinker and best-selling author Peter Block (pictured in a photo by Joe Wessels) will be talking with us at our intimate, casual gathering. All details are here.
From day one in Cincinnati, I have heard more times than I can count, “Peter Block is amaaaazing!” This man has so […]

Sweet nothings

I think you have to be a little twisted to laugh out loud at this:
Last week when we were preparing for the onslaught of my parents’ arrival, we were standing in the bathroom brushing our teeth before bed, and Fred looked around at the bathroom we’d worked so hard on, and he sighed contentedly.
“I’m so […]

Questions for the BBC

I know some Beeb execs read this blog, so maybe one of them can answer my question:
How much have license payers (we are forced by law to fund the BBC if we wish to own a television in the UK) shelled out for this bit of political propaganda being foisted upon children?
Blue Peter and […]

Airline “security”

Does this story about terrorist “dry runs” on US flights surprise anyone? Does the fact that the government completely mismanaged events surrounding the dry runs surprise anyone, either?
This morning, I flew from JFK on JetBlue, for what seems like the hundredth time in the last six months. Let’s just say I fly JetBlue from […]

contrast for pleasure

This morning, leafy North London. This evening, graffiti-heavy Jamaica, Queens. Something about the journey from one to the other with no sleep in between makes me buzz.
I cried on the plane, sad about not seeing Antoine till June 30. Now, after a Happy Meal (not that I buy the marketing; McD’s is across the street) […]

Cheerio, London

I’ll be back in New York City in a few hours. Will be in Ohio later in the week, in time to host the next Cincinnati Salon at my place on Thursday. Please do come along if you’re not a thief or a jerk!

Hamas still dead set on jihad

What a surprise…not. The party of the elected Palestinian government has made an official call for the murder of Jews wherever Muslims may find them.
Robert Avrech says:
So all you appeasers out there who believed that withdrawing from Gaza would get you brownie points with Hamas, well, it didn’t happen. They saw the withdrawal, correctly, […]

Feel good, do wrong: Morality for the masses

Johnathan Pearce thinks that if French wine producers make good on their threat to blow up government buildings and supermarkets unless agricultural subsidies are maintained, it will make clear to many the true thuggishness necessary to oppose free trade.
I doubt it.
If these French wine activists follow through on their threat of terrorism, I […]

Bank holiday weather

I know I sort of asked for it, but if I really had that kind of power, I would have asked for something way better.
ANTOINE: I don’t suppose you want to go for a walk in this, do you?
ME: Uh, no.
ANTOINE: I might go out just to see if there’s […]

Riddle me this…

How on earth do self-professed ‘liberals’ (who aren’t liberal by any measure when one examines their views) find it within themselves to defend this piece of human garbage? Is stamping out media coverage which is critical of the government a ‘progressive’ act? It makes zero sense.

The Break-Up

Even if you’ve already seen this, it gets better with each view. I’d love to see the blank looks on the faces of ad execs as they watch this:

Rachel Lucas is back!

She is the only blogger whose return I’ve anticipated for YEARS. Check out Rachel’s useful guide to online dating for single men and see what she’s been depriving us and the whole goldanged internet of for the last few years. (I will disagree with her, though, and say that she should be glad guys are […]

Park + Vine

Originally uploaded by ekalb.

I cannot wait to get back to Cincinnati and start spending money at Park + Vine, Dan Korman’s new ‘green’ general store. Dan has assured me that his shop will be shunning the smug, hectoring attitude in favor of just selling great products. Sounds good to me! My pal Blake […]
