Boy, do I have some contributions to make to THIS database (via Jeff Nolan’s Twitter feed). It’s not just rotten neighbors, but rotten landlords, bad area warnings, and all that stuff you wish you’d had before you moved. I’m not crazy about some of the site functionality, but it is still in beta.

I headed up to Clifton with the Schwartzes (I’m sick and effing tired of spelling their name with numbers, I told them! So there!) today for the Streetscapes street painting festival on Telford Ave. It’s more like street chalking, though. There was some amazing work, and I bumped into […]

Looks like Nancy got quechup on her head thanks to the supremely customer-hostile Goodreads:
it asked me to set up a profile, which I did, and then it asked, do you want to see who on your yahoo! email list is already a member? And I clicked sure, and saw four people, and unclicked one who […]

New York Dry Cleaners

Saturday was stunning and perfect. I spent all day running around Over-the-Rhine, buying fruit, vegetables, and art. More on the latter when I’ve recovered from the joy of my good fortune. (I took a bunch of pictures yesterday in the neighborhood. They’re all here.)

Burma is a good example of ‘gun control’, i.e. a state of affairs where firearms are a legal monopoly of the government forces. One side has good intentions and the other side has loaded rifles, and the result (so far) […]

Main Street during MPMF

Between the Mid Point Music Festival and Final Friday, the streets were really buzzing tonight!

I can’t believe anybody at all thought that this crappy Photoshop job would not be detected by voters or media. The cheek of these politicians just beggars belief. It would be hilarious if it weren’t so insulting.

I can’t help but steal this from my friend Ben Casnocha:
And this I believe: that the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in the world. And this I would fight for: the freedom of the mind to take any direction it wishes, undirected. And this I must fight against: […]

Gin Soaked Boy, Divine Comedy (great Irish band that I once had the, er, fortune to see in Wolverhampton - shut up - on St. Patrick’s Day. I would have picked another day and a nicer town, but they were excellent):

…despite the horrific weather. (Well, I find torrential downpours, thunder, and lightning rather lovely, but not when you have to brave all that just to get somewhere good.)
I have to confess, I have been totally wiped out since I arrived home from New York, so I was feeling less than energetic yesterday. But Nick Paddock […]
