Homework
I should be on my way to Brussels today, but no. I’ve been off sick the past two days.
It shouldn’t be so shocking to me, but here’s what I’ve worked out over the past 48 hours: If I apply a fraction of the energy to my personal needs that I do to my work, I can get a LOT done at home. (Not leaving the house, at all, certainly helps.)
So far, I’ve deleted more than a gig’s worth of clutter from our laptop, removed more than an additional gig’s worth of bloatware, organised my remaining files, installed the new Ipevo Free-1 Skype handset (pretty cool) that I brought home from America nearly a month ago, exported all my RSS feeds from (ugly, inefficient) Newsgator and imported them into (clean, easy) Bloglines, ripped out 30+ feeds that always feel like chores to check, updated a lot of personal documents, started cutting out clippings for my scrapbooks, put together a care package for a friend…I mean, that’s not a lot, but it’s more than I’ve accomplished outside of work in months. Who knew mindless busywork could be so fruitful? Brussels can sit and spin.
