A mushy post

I was so excited about getting to stay home for the next month. Then I remembered that I have to go to New York next week. I like New York, so it’s a nice problem to have, but still. I miss Cincinnati, my apartment, and my friends.

I spent yesterday with the Schwartzes: breakfast at First Watch, shopping at Fountain News and Macy’s (I got a $36 pair of the warmest shearling gloves for $14), watching the game(s) at their place while eating pizza, falling asleep on a chair for two hours (Erin Marie fell asleep too, so I only hope Bob didn’t take any photos of us making fugly sleep faces for his blog), waking up to eat Erin Marie’s flawless chocolate mousse pie, being walked home by Bob, who tried to fix my broken thermostat for me (despite my insistence that I didn’t want him to have to trek over in the cold and rain).

It was a very improvised, lazy day, but one of the most satisfying I have had. Feeling so at ease is very novel to me. My new life in America is pretty good, even though I miss London a whole lot. But it’s time to stay home for a while, now that I’ve found one.
