After this, let’s stop talking about elections. Please.
Antoine live-blogged the mid-term elections last night, staying up till 4AM to do so. I can’t think of any topic I’m enthusiastic enough about to sacrifice that much sleep for it, so good for him.
With my whole attitude towards the political system (it is inherently rotten, and I will do nothing to encourage the continued survival of its current form), I had no horses in these races. What I fear and loathe is government in the hands of those who would impose their values on an entire population, revoking personal freedoms as they do so. As both the Democrats and Republicans are foaming at the mouth to do precisely that, albeit with (only slightly) different values, any result was bad news in my eyes.
Despite that, I have to say that I’m glad Joe Lieberman won his race. He was really shafted by his fellow Democrats, and despite being a shockingly ignorant economic protectionist, I’m sure it pissed off a lot of the right people for him to win.
