All over the place
ME: You should go see Couples’ Retreat. I DIED laughing.
KARRI: Aw, I want to see that. I wish you were here so we could go see it together.
ME: Me, too.
An hour later, my flights to Ohio were booked. It was a much needed couple of days with my best friend. Boy, I wish I had a picture of us together as 13-year-olds to put next to this one:
A new addition since high school is Karri’s hilarious, beautiful baby girl, who just turned a year old:
I also got to spend some time (not enough) with my little brother, who surprised me by saying I’d be his dream partner for The Amazing Race. His reasoning? “You know how to travel and you know people in every city. We’d never have to sleep in the street.” He’s looking past my lack of athletic prowess.
(Believe it or not, every minute I spend with John consists of me laughing like that, non-stop, to the point where I almost lose my breath. Except for the minutes where we’re fighting, which is why Karri thinks we’d REALLY make a great Amazing Race team - “I’d watch just to see you guys have big blow-ups all the time.”)
I just flew from NYC to San Francisco, where I have many tedious tasks to attend to before departing for Hawaii on Friday. (I’m crying you a river as I type.) There is a LOT happening - it’s one of those months where I wouldn’t be surprised if, tomorrow, I found out I had to cancel my Hawaii trip so I could be in Madagascar on Monday. I’m just doing what’s in front of me, so if I owe you email or a phone call, feel free to chase - I plan to use the first few days of my vacation to catch up on correspondence and other admin.
