Barack Obama’s middle name
Regarding the little kerfuffle that went down in Cincinnati yesterday between John McCain and Bill Cunningham, I like what Antoine has to say in NBS’s comments:
Barack Obama didn’t choose his middle name. I agree with McCain on this one. If Senator BO’s middle name was Omar, you could call him “BOO!” but so what?
My middle name is Julian, who I only recently discovered was the Roman emperor who tried to revoke Christianity and restore paganism. Does anyone think this is relevant to my political views?
Lots of things wrong with McCain, but refusing to go along with some infantile rabble-rousing is not one of them. To name two: 1) McCain-Feingold campaign reform act, 2) his belief he has friends in the liberal media.
Of course, I take exception with Antoine referring to left-wing media as “liberal,” as they are anything but liberal. Otherwise, I agree with him. Why does anybody take radio clowns of any political stripe seriously? Cunningham should never have been on that stage. Live by the radio clown, die by the radio clown.

What in the world possessed anyone to tap Cunningham as a presenter at a campaign speech? OF COURSE he did his schtick. He’s an entertainer.
valereee’s point makes sense. I shouldn’t complain if some comedian tries to poke fun, however tasteless. The complaint is against those who think Senator John McCain should go along with someone making fun of Senator Barack Obama’s middle name. I doubt if Sen Obama would make fun of Sen McCain, if the roles were reversed. I dislike Obama’s politics, but not his manners.
