Bits and pieces
* It was warm and sunny enough in London today that I had to roll down the window of the cab I was in, as I felt like I was going to pass out from the heat if I didn’t. I wish I could put into words how much this development delights me.
* My former colleague and gorgeous friend Franziska has a blog (thanks, I think, to another friend of mine, Tim Taylor, who I didn’t even know had ‘met’ Franziska via blog comments. Now they’re friends, too, despite living thousands of miles away from one another. Life is sweet.).
* I wouldn’t book a hotel now without first consulting TripAdvisor. I first used it to find a great hotel in Egypt, and have been a faithful fan ever since. It led us to a truly fantastic getaway spot for last night, and always steers me away from potentially disappointing hotels in New York and wherever else we go.
* Just this afternoon, I was talking to some friends about how much I love JetBlue and will always make the effort to fly with them for internal US trips. And then I read this, this, and this. Oops! I think they’ll be okay, because I reckon most of their past customers’ experiences have been as consistently brilliant as mine have been, which is more persuasive than one incident like this happening. JetBlue’s spokesperson said:
We did not do our best. No excuse for why we allowed those passengers to sit on the tarmac.
Yeah, it’s just the obvious truth, but you won’t find that coming from the mouths of many company spokespeople these days.

Amazing how satisfying that sort of thing (the apology is). Why can’t more execs figure that out?
