Bricking Mike Arrington’s iPhone

It was hard not to have a bit of a giggle this afternoon when Pat Phelan bricked Mike Arrington’s iPhone. There was pandemonium in our gang while everyone scrambled to fix it…and then we spotted Mike approaching to retrieve the phone Pat was supposed to be unlocking for him. This almost needs no audio (though the f-word does appear at one point, so this is slightly NSFW, depending upon where you work):

Then Mike and Om Mallik gathered with the rest of the growing crowd around Pat and Florian while they tried to un-brick Mike’s iPhone.

You will notice that one person in particular laughed harder than the rest of us dared:

Here’s why: There was a series of emails that Pat, Florian and I exchanged last week about the prospect of Pat bricking someone’s iPhone while doing an unlock. Pat’s dismissive response to Florian included the word “impossible”. Then I, in a shocking move, made some sarcastic comment about Florian being a genius.

In the end, the iPhone was unbricked and no blood was shed. All’s well that ends well and all that, but I’ve never been so glad to have Qik as I was when this was happening. Pat, you truly gave us something unforgettable today. Thanks!
