Cincinnati Photo of the Day

Shanghai Mama’s

Yesterday was one of those days when I would have preferred not to venture out into the icy temperatures. (Luckily, my home is positioned between City Hall and all the places where city bureaucrats walk for lunch, so the sidewalks are always thoroughly covered in salt. Much appreciated.)
As far as I’m concerned, the only upside to weather like this is that it makes hot noodle soups required eating. Last night, at Shanghai Mama’s with friends, the shrimp wonton noodle soup was the $6.50* warmer, filler, and fortifier. Now you know what to have Monday through Thursday, when Izzy’s matzo ball soup isn’t on the menu.
* Seriously, $6.50 for an excellent dinner in a comfortable, atmospheric downtown restaurant? Too many people in this town really have no idea how good they’ve got it (and always had it, as far as I can make out).
