Dear Elena
This blog is the most beautiful, sad thing I’ve read in a long time. When I told Antoine about it, he just said: “Whoa.”
Dan Steinberg’s six-year-old daughter died on Wednesday - four days ago. Her death was most unexpected, and Dan has been blogging about Elena and the rest of his family in the days that have passed. Of course it is heartbreaking to read, but it is also funny in places and makes you marvel at how truly wonderful some parents, some families, really are. In my head, my role models in the realm of relationships and parenting are Din and Nancy, and Robert and Karen Avrech (who have also suffered the death of a child, their son Ariel); this week, I added Dan and Kim Steinberg to that list.
Link via Doc Searls and Kathy Sierra, both of whom know Dan and Kim outside the blogosphere. (Dan also has an education blog called Extreme Teaching.)
