Email-only interview policy

I’m with Jason Calacanis and Dave Winer on this one: If I don’t know you or your editors well enough to trust you - which I probably do not - I’m not going to do an interview with you except by email (or, as Dave offers, blog post).

More practically, you’re going to get a better, faster response from me if I don’t have to make an appointment to take your phone call and re-arrange my work around the intrusion. Any journo who hesitates to do email interviews makes me suspicious. (It used only to be a preference, but now it’s a policy. I’ve had too many incorrect things attributed to me by interviewers - things which were never corrected, despite my insistence and the supposed supremacy of traditional media and its editors - to risk it anymore. Even the most well-intended, competent journalist can make mistakes, and I can’t trust that his editor or web guy is going to be trustworthy or competent enough to correct them.)
