Feedburner fear
I’m really enjoying Dave Winer’s posts on why Feedburner is trouble. I don’t doubt for a second his explanation of why he is bothering to blog this stuff:
[I]t could be that there are people at Google who understand the benefits of keeping things open, and if I can help them argue inside Google, then I feel I’ve done something good.
As someone who has agitated for openness with (and within) more than one company, I know how invaluable those supporting arguments can be. More than helping you win the argument, they reassure you of your own sanity. When everyone around you acts as if their sickness is normal, you can start to wonder if the healthy way isn’t as dangerous as they all seem to think. Right or wrong - and I think he is right - Dave provides something of great value for individuals at Google with these posts. I’m cheering for them all.
