Bob told me that he was on Fountain Square on Friday night when a guy called out to him: “Hey, Schwartz!” (Bob gets a lot of that, because his blog is so widely read in Cincinnati.) They had a pleasant chat and the guy said to him, “So Jackie’s coming in this weekend, right?” Bob replied that yes, I was. A moment or two later, Mrs. 5chw4r7z asked the guy, “Hey, how do you know Jackie?” His reply: “I don’t, but I read her blog.”
Some might find that scary, but I thought it was neat. I am amazed that people who actually know me bother to read this blather, let alone perfect strangers. Blogging has brought me so much - including my current job and many lasting friendships - and taken nothing but time and the occasional moral dilemma.
If you’ve ever thought about starting a blog, I would recommend doing so. Provided you set boundaries about what you are willing to open up about in public (something I have changed my mind about many times), the benefits are often huge.
