FYI re Adriana Lukas
Adriana is in the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, being kept for observation after returning from Africa with a multitude of not very pleasant symptoms. She has no internet or email access, so please forgive her if she’s incommunicado.
I would also add this: If you know Adriana, you know that being sick is not something she likes to ‘indulge’ in; she had to be convinced to go to the doctor, despite her high fever, stiffness, aches, stomach woes, etc. Adriana’s doctor could not fit her in to see her, and told her to try again at 8.30 tomorrow morning to make an appointment. (This is a nifty little socialist healthcare trick: Don’t let people make an appointment when they call, make them call back the next day, then you can claim an official shorter waiting time on your government reports.) This despite the fact that tropical diseases such as typhoid, typhus, and malaria are all, er, pretty serious. At 5.30PM, Adriana was finally able to find a doctor who would see her, who very quickly sent her to the emergency room at Chelsea & Westminster. There, she waited until midnight to be seen, and it was swiftly decided she was staying in for observation.
All I can say is, I hope she has a book. Doing nothing is one of the few things at which Adriana does not excel.
