Good vs evil

I absolutely love this. Though it was - like so many axioms we come to hold dear later in life - not fun to learn, accepting this idea has improved my life to an immeasurable degree:

Imaginary evil is romantic and varied; real evil is gloomy, monotonous, barren, boring. Imaginary good is boring; real good is always new, marvelous, intoxicating.
