Half Moon Bay birthday

Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay

My 31st birthday is on Monday, but I will spend that day working (and how). So I decided to turn this weekend into a series of birthday treats for myself. This has included plenty of shopping, including a gorgeous fuchsia Burberry trench coat, a few pairs of Prada shoes, and even more unapologetic consumerism than I can catalog in this post. So far, so good.
But I’m hoping the best part will come later today. I’ve wanted to go to the Ritz-Carlton in nearby Half Moon Bay for a long time. (Okay, since I saw the American Pie wedding that was shot there.) So I decided at the last minute to have my birthday brunch there. Well, why not?
Birthdays can be sad occasions, despite the fact that they sure beat the alternative. This one will be tough for various reasons, not least of which is the fact that I’d love it to include friends who live very far from here. There was a time when I would have given serious consideration to devoting the day to moping and missing people. This year, there was no question that I would do anything of the sort. I guess wisdom really does come with old age…

Have a wonderful day. Just the name of the hotel and location in your Twitter stream made me wish I could go too.
Hope you are having a great birthday weekend - may be next year you could make it a birthday week!
Happy Birthday Jackie! Glad to have you celebrating this and future birthdays here in Silicon Valley.
Have a great one!
I’m a total birthday grump, always do “nothing”. So I think you’re doing fabulously! Here’s to another year of fun & excitement :)

You underestimate the Brits. I’ve an excellent glass of wine in my hand, and it’s raised to you.
Happy Birthday!
Oh, crap. Forgive the wine. Although I don’t think you’ll be offended, just so you know I don’t want to cause offence.
Haha, James! I really love for people to drink good stuff, especially around me. Just wish I was there to join you in Hampstead (mine’s a fizzy water).
Thanks so much, guys! I can’t believe how many lovely people I have come to know because of this little blogging thing.
Well, as much as I admire that you refuse to fall victim to a self inflicted Boo Hoo Birthday, I would like to think that just maybe there are a few of us that could really bring some Birthday Cheer your way! :) More power to you ……..Give yourself all the treats you desire. I really miss talking to you and hope we can catch up soon. XOXO Kel
