Happy birthday, Park + Vine!
I am so pleased for my friend Dan Korman, whose green general store in Cincinnati will celebrate its one year anniversary on June 1. The business has grown in leaps and bounds, and has become an important “third place” to residents in Over-the-Rhine and downtown Cincy - not to mention all those who come from outside the city center to congregate and shop there.
Make no mistake: Dan is the number one reason the store is so popular. People feel a real affinity for what he is doing, whether they agree with his specific stances or not. For example, I don’t agree with Dan on so-called “fair” trade. But I have a huge amount of respect for his knack for creating wealth by giving a previously under-served market what they want. Yay, capitalism!
(Side note to those who would like to see the government supplying the sort of things Dan sells: Why would you want to crowd a local entrepreneur out of business?)
Here’s how Park + Vine is celebrating its birthday on Friday:
Friday, May 30, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Park + Vine’s one-year anniversary kicks off with a party 6-9 p.m. May 30 featuring vegan appetizers (Embrace Sweets, Five Star Foodies, Lavomatic, Venice on Vine) and drinks (City Cellars). At 7 p.m., Peter Adams and the Nocturnal Collective rolls in for a violin-infused punk-folk-rock performance.
Wish I could be there! Here’s something I Qiked in Park + Vine a few months ago:
