Have MAXroam, will travel

I am absolutely thrilled for my friend Pat Phelan, CEO of Ireland’s little telecoms disrupter that could, Cubic Telecom. Today they launch their MAXroam phone/SIM that will save thousands of dollars per year for those who travel and don’t want to get stuck with ludicrous roaming charges. It’s already gotten a rave review in today’s New York Times.

Oh, and they’re giving away an unlocked iPhone to one lucky person who buys their MAXroam SIM today. As if I needed further incentive to get in on this! MAXroam is going to save me a bundle of money, and there’s the added bonus of supporting a guy who is truly passionate about his business (how many other CEOs put their cell number on their blogs and ask you to call them directly if ever you feel his company has let you down?).
