I think the last proper home I had was London, and even there it was always a rather ephemeral thing. So when I say I am “home,” I mean I am in the place where I pay rent and where some very good friends live. (One of them even surprised me by picking me up from the Greyhound station at 4AM, but I won’t embarrass him by publicizing his generosity here. Who knows what people would start expecting of him then!)

Anyway, here I am! My apartment feels even more gigantic to me than usual. Let’s just say I’m not letting myself get too comfortable…
