Home and why we’re fleeing it (today’s reason)

I’ve rarely been happier to be back in London. It is not a bit hot here! We actually used the duvet last night! It is possible to walk outside without melting! We were at Petica Evans’ naming party yesterday, standing outside the entire time, and did not leave drenched in sweat.

The bad news is that there is some kind of ‘gospel fest’ going on much too close to us, and it is very loud and annoying. “Blatant violation of the council’s decibel limits,” according to Antoine. Still, I’m pretty sure that calling the cops on fellow Christians who are singing and shouting (and now, RAPPING!) about their love of God is a good way to get quickly to hell.

  1. I don’t think you’ll find anything commanding us not to install decent sound-proofing in our churches in the Bible anywhere.

Although, to be fair, I’m not as good on the minor prophets as I could be.

  2. Oh, it was an outside thing, Adam - they were even giving people free barbecue, had bouncy castles (not airborne, as far as I know), face painting, etc. Antoine told me after I posted this that they only started warning residents about the impending event after he complained one year (he was doing a big translation piece, on a Monday deadline, and had planned to use his quiet Sunday to finish it all off. Impossible with their all-day din.).

  3. You won’t go to hell for calling the cops on Christians.

But you will get a gold star from this one.
