How low will the Clintons go? WHEN will they go, for good?

Oh. My. DOG.

You know, I’d just been thinking that perhaps I should wish hard for a Clinton presidency. After all, she’s such a poor diplomat and so damn divisive that, in the end, she probably wouldn’t be able to agree on many horrifically intrusive, citizen-hostile laws with any Congress. The less those tossers in Washington actually “get done,” the better for every person in this country (with the exception of lobbyists, pork pushers, lawyers, and other jerks who know all too well that big government = big money for their corporations).

But now, I just want these two to go away forever. Now that they’ve made a mockery of all those people who kept waxing nostalgic for the Clinton era, they have no other purpose. Let this nasty campaign be their all too fitting legacy. (After, you know, all the other nasty stuff.)

  1. I believe that we are on the verge of a Clinton meltdown. If Hillary’s sleazy tactics weren’t enough, here we have a former president of the United States disgracing the office by stooping to the role of race-baiting axeman.

George Bush the elder didn’t stoop to it when his son was running. Nor did any other previous presidents.

You know that it’s bad when even Republican strategists, who are praying that they get to go up against the eminently beatable Hillary, are openly rooting for Obama. Even though they know an Obama nomination is the worst thing for their party, they simply want to see the Clintons exit stage left.

  2. What’s been amusing these past couple of weeks is watching the shock and scorn within the Democratic ranks, amazed at what the Clintons will do.

For anyone paying real attention, this is what they’ve ALWAYS done - it was just acceptable when the targets were Republicans.

Bill Clinton - a great president? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, okay.

  3. Athena; I am ashamed to say that you are describing me. I was never a big fan of HillBill, but they did get my vote. Never again.

  4. When 45 years of national racial progress is one of the things you are willing to throw under the bus to get yourself elected, it says a lot. It should say all one needs to know. But we’ll see.

  5. Mike - Bill got my vote in ‘92 too.

Fool me once, and all that.

I saw something posited on another blog and can’t for the life of me remember where, but it was the suggestion that after all this blatant, ugly race-baiting, no self-respecting person could vote for Hillary Clinton should she win the nomination. It’s a broad brush, but I think it’s about right.
