I live like this

I could either spend the next two minutes answering one of the many, many emails in my inbox, or I could spend it writing here about how sorry I am that I probably owe you email.
The truth is that I’ve also been spending time doing non-urgent things, such as cooking dinner, going to bed before 10PM and writing a silly short short story, just for the challenge and fun of it. It clocks in at exactly 250 words, not including the title. The constraint was one too interesting for me not to make an attempt; if you want to give it a go, please do.

Nice story Jackie but personally I would have prefered to recieve the mail.
Oh, Pat. I didn’t write the story at the link above - that’s the explanation of the constraints, with an example by the fine writer Sophie Hannah (daughter of my friends Norm and Adele Geras). I’ve sent my story to Norm; we’ll see if it makes the cut.
It makes the cut, Jackie.
So if Norm doesn’t show the good taste to publish your story, are you going to post it for our delectation?
Yes, well, I might as well offer the question I asked you by e-mail to your readers at large. Can you recommend a good restaurant not too far from Picadilly? Something in Soho would do in a pinch, but closer to Picadilly itself would be better.
Michael, I haven’t replied because I really can’t think of anyplace in Piccadilly proper apart from the Wolseley, which you’ve already tried. If you can stretch as far as Mayfair, though, I highly recommend Le Boudin Blanc. I’ve only ever eaten in the private dining room (not on my own dime, I hasten to add), but it’s fantastic and the service is of the highest standard. The private dining room is next to the wine cellar; if it’s not occupied, ask them to take you down and let you have a look. Amazing stuff. Tell Jerome that Jackie Danicki sent you!

Also in Mayfair, I HIGHLY recommend Angela Hartnett’s MENU at the Connaught Hotel. Michelin-starred and well deserving of it, the food is excellent and the service is superb. The tasting menu is, I believe £70/head, or two courses is £55. They do a three course lunch for £30/head. I would go for the tasting menu. (If you decide to do this, let me know and I can call Angela and ask her to make sure you get a good table.)
Thanks, that’s great. (I have made a reservation for Le Boudin Blanc). I probably should try both restaurants at one time or other though.
