ISTA mystery
Posted on June 19th, 2007 by Jackie Danicki
I just paid my utility bill (water, gas, electricity - all together, just over $25, a record low for me since I moved in, which gives me a very geeky frisson) at ISTA’s website, which informs me:
ISTA North America has partnered with Western Union Payments Services, an online credit/debit card payment service provider that will process your payment on our behalf. For this convenience, a $1.70 fee will apply to your account.
Isn’t the convenience ISTA’s, though, for not having the hassle of processing a check I’ve mailed them? (They insist on sending me bills in the post, just as TMobile does, even though I’ve requested e-bills only and always pay online.)

No kidding. I’ve set up eBill’s through their site, get the PDF’s go to my banks’ website then set up the payment that way since they just mail them a check, it’s free to boot.
There’s no way I’ll be paying $1.70 just so they can get their cash faster. Talk about lame.
