Just show up
Gretchen Rubin has a great Happiness Project post on the importance of just showing up. (Gretchen was good enough to show up to meet me for another café conversation in New York on Monday, so I’m selflishly glad she’s so good at this one.)
A lesson I am learning the hard way is that I need to show up in my home from time to time, too. Sometimes I get so caught up in travel and events happening outside that I neglect what needs to happen in the space where I live. Which is why, right now, my kitchen counter is covered in tissue paper and empty cardboard boxes (from all the PR freebies accumulating thanks to the beauty blog), the bed in the spare room is covered in shopping bags and unpacked suitcases, and I have a stack of eleven books to read in the next three days.
I’m going to concentrate on showing up at home for a while, at least until I leave for London later this month.
