Keep talking, Bill

One of the 84 people I follow on Twitter is a teenager in Brooklyn. He was four years old when the Monica Lewinsky scandal was happening. And yet, tonight, he tweets this from a leadership conference he’s at:

Hotel bandwidth sucks more than Monica

I’m not saying he wouldn’t be referring to Monica if not for Bill Clinton’s omnipresence on the campaign trail…But I strongly suspect there’s a connection.

Not that I want Bill to go away. I (stupidly) campaigned for the guy when I was a teenager and met him in the course of doing so, and I feel so ashamed of myself for it every time he opens his arrogant, self-righteous mouth. It’s a humbling experience for me, and extra damaging to his dangerous, wrong-headed wife. So, all good.

Bonus link: Dave Winer explains why he is so stridently anti-Clinton now, after being close to throwing his support behind Hillary recently.

I didn’t think it was an issue until Bill started throwing the mud so aggressively. Then I noticed that Hillary was talking about the first two terms as a plural accomplishment, as if she were in office then. The more he attacks and the more she takes credit for the first two terms, the more I think they’re fucking with the Constitution.

Further, there are good reasons why the first lady (or first spouse) isn’t actively involved in running the government, so we don’t have to understand how good their marriage is, and they get a tiny bit of privacy. Then we remember how their marriage was in the middle of everything when they were in charge, and god damn we don’t need that mess now. We’ve got so many other things to deal with.

I guess my main worry is that Hillary WOULD “deal with” all those “other things”. What a disaster she would be.

  1. I am in 100% agreement. (How scary is THAT? “Dogs and cats, living together…”)

  2. I knew about alll of the Bill Clinton stuff before this campaign was in mainstream media. I understand the whole situation for example the “stain”. I would vote for Hillary if I was of voting age and have been making campaign calls for her in the recent months. That sounded a bit snotty and Im sorry for that. I really love your site actually and have not intentions to be rude.

    Peace!

  3. Andrew, I know you have no intentions to be rude! I heart you even if you’re a Hillary supporter.
