Antoine met me in New York for two nights. As he had to fly back to London at 7AM on New Year’s Day - which meant being at JFK for 5AM - I thought an early, quiet night sounded best. But I ended up dragging him into a (really nice, fun) bar, where I kept us until 2AM. I seem to recall that the 3.30AM wake-up call wasn’t warmly received.

I also remember fighting off the urge to be sick in the back of my cab to the airport later that morning. Ah, what I’m missing out on by being teetotal…
