Let the Webby Awards fun begin…
We were super excited to find out that Qik won the Best Use of Mobile Video prize, voted on by a panel of esteemed judges, for the 13th Annual Webby Awards (”the Oscars of the Web,” as it goes). On Monday night I get the privilege of accepting the award at the fancy schmancy ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street (I’m hoping to bump into Sarah Silverman on the red carpet - she won the Best Actress Webby for this, which you’ll want to watch with headphones on if you’re at work or have small children nearby.).
The catch? We only get to use five words in our acceptance speeches. They’ll be recorded on video before the ceremony, and played during it.
Before we all started worrying about that, the Webby organization - which always puts on superb events - hosted winners and nominees for a sunset cocktail party on the roof of Above Allen. (I shot a brief Qik video of the views and the scene.)
It was fun, and of course I ran into two people from Ohio (one of whom is friends with a guy I’ve known since I was nine or ten years old). All roads lead to Ohio, I tell you. (All my pictures from the party are here.)
