Moving day

The new place

I went over to my new apartment at 7PM on Friday night to check that it was ready for moving in first thing Saturday morning.
Let’s just say that, based on what I saw, I have my doubts. Yes, the fridge (just delivered) is still in the middle of the living room floor. The phone outlets don’t have their covers on yet. Mirrors haven’t been hung in the bathrooms. There is dust and debris everywhere.
The builders assured me that it would be pulled together and pristine way in advance of this morning. They said they were getting three more guys in to help them, and they’d make sure it was really clean. (No offense to any construction workers who may be reading this, but I am not putting money on these guys noticing that the insides of the bathroom cabinets are filled with sawdust…or much of anything else.)
Strangely - considering that the moving truck is reserved and the movers will be here at 7.30 this morning to get started - I am not freaking out about the possibility of the place being unfit to move in. If it isn’t ready, we’ll sort something out. It might be a huge hassle, but not the end of the world.
Also, it’s just past midnight on moving day and I’m still packing. Who knew I had this much stuff? Back to the mountain in front of me…
