My first Final Friday

GE Party-o

Well, I didn’t really make it around to as many galleries and shops as I’d planned.

I went out on my own, hit Kaldi’s for a couple of pints, then I went to Mainly Art, where owner Mark Fisk did a great job of pretending not to be sick of me showing up on his doorstep every few days. He and I just sat (in the shop window!) for ages and talked, waved at people as they walked by, and chatted to Final Friday walkers who came in and out of the store. (Everyone who saw the General Electric Party-O went absolutely bananas for it, which was fun to watch every time someone else walked in. I wish I could afford to buy it, perhaps as a present for Miss Nancy, who would look so perfect standing over it, wielding a meat fork, while wearing one of her little 1960s shirtdresses.)

Then Joe came to meet me, we shot some more bull with Mark, then took off with his friend to check out our pal Jeff Stec’s open evening for his new entrepreneurial project, Inspired Community Planning. Jeff has worked for the United Way for many years, and this move into his own business is one I know he’ll find hugely rewarding. I’m excited for him.

And…that was pretty much the extent of my Final Friday. I’ll try to make it out to next month’s and do a little more exploring.
