My secret shame: Who is she?

She’s straight, but has a massive lesbian following, which she has only encouraged over the years. Wu-Tang killa bees have swarmed over her in adoration. She used to be a hairdresser before she got famous, but now has her daughter in playgroups with Gwyneth, Stella, and Kate’s kids. And she’s one of the most unfashionable (yet very stylish) singers ever to grace the hate lists of Britain’s most self-conscious, cool-concerned music journalists. I love her, and can finally admit it. (Somehow, Katie Holmes works her way into the equation, too.)

  1. I have seen her perform live with (amongst other things) full orchestral accompaniment in Belgium. I bet you haven’t. (Belgium was definitely the right place for it, somehow).

  2. Michael, I’ve never been in the same room with her, to my knowledge. I’d probably faint if I was.

  3. If you go back and look at this piece, it is superficially about architecture and urban design, but secretly I am really admitting the same secret shame that you are.

(You and I have weirdly similar taste in music. I am not sure how or why this is).
