New York, New York

Dean & Deluca goodies

I’m back in my home away from home, Manhattan. Lots to do this week, and I’m glad I was able to find a great rate for The Alex, a beautiful, modern hotel in midtown. Staying somewhere plush really isn’t a luxury when you’re working a brutal schedule that kicks your backside on a daily basis. Oh, and when it’s 130 degrees with the humidity.

That said, this tray of Dean & Deluca chocolates and candy that they put in the room was almost offensive to me. I had housekeeping come and remove it immediately. I envy those people who could spend several nights in a hotel room with gourmet chocolate bars and not feel tempted to eat them, but I am not one of those people. I do not envy those who would be remotely tempted by freaking Gummi Bears. The hell? What a waste of high fructose corn syrup.

  1. You are a far stronger woman than me! If I checked into a decent hotel with good chocolate laid out for me I would be spending the next hour lazing in the bath with a trashy novel, eating.

  2. I love The Alex. Do they still have Frederic Fekkai bath products? So yummy. Before I moved to NY, and while The Alex was a preferred hotel for my company, I stayed there every time I visited. I love the linens on the beds, and the comfy beds themselves. The location is decent, too. Enjoy your stay in NYC (and hopefully you brought an umbrella)!
