Dude, you weren’t “released” - you were rescued.

UPDATE: I just opened up our copy of the Sunday Times and saw that that newspaper has mis-reported Kember’s statement. I heard and saw him say these words on TV, and he actually said - as The Observer and many other media outlets have accurately reported:

I do not believe that a lasting peace is achieved by armed force, but I pay tribute to their courage and thank those who played a part in my release.

So why has The Sunday Times (and other news organizations) got it wrong?
