Qik launches into public beta
I’ve spent the last week on a press tour on both coasts, and now the reason why can be revealed: We‘re in beta! (I wasn’t going to post this until tomorrow, when the embargo officially lifts, but the news is already breaking across the web.)
Even better, now anyone can join Qik, regardless of whether or not we have software for your particular cell phone (and we’re adding more handsets, too). As a Qik member, you’ll be able to leave comments on videos and take advantage of the new Groups and Events features as viewers and commentators. (And yes, we will alert you when we do support your phone.)
Please join us from 5PM onward on Monday night at BJ’s Brewhouse at the Bridgepointe in San Mateo/Foster City for a tweet-up organized by Laura Fitton, where Qik will be buying a few rounds to celebrate our beta launch with everyone in attendance. Hope to see some of you there!

Great news Jackie! Congrats on the public launch! I’ll be doing an item on the Qik public on mobuzz.tv for tomorrow.
