Guy Herbert:
“It so much worse than we thought, that absolutely nobody noticed,” they cry. Something must be done! Starting with more counting, more monitoring and more control so that we never fail to notice nothing untoward happening ever again.
He’s talking about attitudes to immigration to the UK, but the same mockery could be made of so many other issues that people persist in believing, with no evidence whatsoever, demand government intervention. Control freakery and stasism know no geography.

The bold quote is from David Cameron, the Tory leader, who in principle, should be opposed to greater state control and more open markets.
Control freakery also knows no political divide, it seems.
Which is precisely why I am anti-politics.
