Rusk and the commoditization of content

The superb Harriet Meth borrows from the teachings of the late Don Hewitt and says:
[I]f you can get someone to say “I didn’t know that” you’ve done your job. You’ve created more than content. You’ve created a memorable moment.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve grown to speak in hyperlinks - quoting great blog posts and articles in conversation, often following up long talks with emails stuffed with URLs you were asked for after mentioning one of those pieces. I never think of that truly memorable stuff as content; I think of it as pure value. If your content has no value, it’s just bytes and bytes of rusk.
