Short-term sacrifice
Posted on February 25th, 2009 by Jackie Danicki
I’m not a practicing Catholic, but I decided to give up sugar and flour for Lent. I can give up anything for 40 days. (Usually, after 40 days, I’m so pleased with the outcome that I see no reason to go back to the old substance. I’m hoping this is the case with sugar and flour, but we’ll see.)
Is there anything you don’t think you could give up for 40 days? I’m tempted to say my mobile phones, but I mostly use them for email and the web. Yeah, there’s no way I could give up the internet for 40 days, which is pretty much why I spent the last decade working in online businesses.
What would you be unwilling to sacrifice for 40 days?

I would have to lean towards the Internet as well. There are a few other things as well.
Kissing, if there were people around I wanted to kiss, which there nearly always is.
I couldn’t possibly give up Twitter, email or my iPhone but like you said it all weaves into your job, me too.
I should give up sugar … but I’m not sure how I’d do. I gave up sugar, flour, carbs, the lot for over three weeks before but then went back with a vengeance!
