On Thursday afternoon, I was walking through Piatt Park when a Buddhist monk (flowing robes and all) stopped me and asked me for directions. I then walked into (the Muslim-owned) Marrakech/Diner on Elm for a very late lunch and was greeted by two tables of Muslims (one full of men, one with a burkha-clad woman) and a table full of Christian missionaries in town for a conference. All that was missing were the Orthodox schoolboys I sometimes see making their way north on Elm of a weekday afternoon.

All this, of course, in the shadow of the Presbyterian church, the Reform synagogue, and the Catholic cathedral.
