Talk to Cory Doctorow

My brilliant friend Tracy Sheridan has managed to nab writer and digital rights expert Cory Doctorow for the next Waxxi interactive podcast. As well as being co-editor of Boing Boing, Cory is also one of the brightest online pioneers, having been writing and giving away his books on the web (and making a lot of money out of that practice) for several years. Register here to take part in the conversation - space is limited - which will happen on February 12.

  1. Jackie,

Thanks very much for the kind post! I wish you could have joined me at either or both events (Free Culture @ NYU, Google Un-bound) where I first met Cory, and watched him present.

His messages are important, and his style … let’s just say he’d make a perfect Guest of Honour at a Samizdata HQ party (think ultimate intellectual meets uber geek meets passionate technology evangelist - and more).

    Hope to see you soon!

  2. I’d love to bring Cory together with the Samizdata crowd; there’s a lot of common ground, and plenty of room for some serious debate, too. Add the bar and some good grub, and you’ve got a classic Samizdata party. Please do send him our way when he gets back to London!

  3. I’d love to meet Cory, preferable in a party environment rather than a conference one. :)

His talk on self-determination is one of my favourite encapsulations of what all this is about.

  4. Adriana: Yes! I agree. But I think you would have enjoyed Cory’s ‘against the grain, and loving it’ talk at Google Unbound, as well as the impassioned talk @ NYU regarding the State of the Copyfight. All about self-determination. Cut from the same mold, so to speak (you, Cory).

We’ll have to get the two of you together somehow to exchange brain-power. Now *that’s* a party I won’t miss. :)
