The Crunchies were fun!
It was lovely to reconnect with one of the most kind-hearted and wonderful people I know, Mrs. Michelle Oshen Feldman, at the Crunchies. I hadn’t seen her for almost a year, and we missed one another in Paris last month, so we were long overdue to catch up. It was really, really lovely to see her.
It was also great to see Blogger and Twitter co-founder Evan Williams (one of my entrepreneurial idols), Ryan Kuder (simply one of the most fun, down to earth people in the industry - who also needs a haircut), and Jeff Pulver, who dragged me to a taqueria at 2AM with Joey Mucha and David Klein. Catching up with MC Hammer was, as ever, surreal. All in all, a great night.
Qik did not get the most votes in our category, but I’ll let CNET’s Josh Lowensohn have his say:
Qik got beat out of being the Best Mobile Start-up by Evernote. Evernote is a fantastic application, but I’d argue that its strength is in the desktop version, and that its mobile application isn’t as impressive or game changing as Qik’s live streaming capabilities. Qik was also one of the first mobile streaming services that would archive recordings and make them easier to share elsewhere. It’s also scrappy, offering a streaming application for iPhone users with jail-broken handsets when Apple would not allow it through its SDK.
The Evernote guys were very gracious when I congratulated them at the after-party. No “In yo’ face!” or finger pointing or anything. Class acts all the way.
Just like you guys! Thanks so much for all your votes for Qik. To me, the biggest award is a happy user. No trophy can trump that.

I’m not finding Evernote quite as useful yet on the iPhone as I expected. I agree the desktop is where the strength resides.
So I need a haircut? You sound like my wife. Sheesh. Good to see you too, Jackie!
Ryan, we discussed this at (ahem) length on Friday night. You’re great the way you are, but you’d be greater with your old haircut! Listen to your wife. :)
I had to think of you when I came across this http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technology/2009/01/twitter_and_a_classic_picture.html
I know you don’t like the BBC but the comments to this blog are hilarious!
