The day after Boxing Day blues

In America, the day after Christmas is a letdown. In Britain, you’ve got Boxing Day to look forward to! Sure, all it amounts to is another reason to have an unusually festive lunch, but still. It’s one more day off work and one more day when you can’t feel too guilty about doing not much at all. (I speak only for the childless.)
The day after Boxing Day is really depressing, though. There’s nothing special about December 27th. You may even have to go back to work. New Year’s is ages away - or so it feels.
I was sort of fed up with the Christmas thing weeks ago, but now I’m very sad it’s gone. With my London family (that is to say, Antoine’s family), it’s a very low key, intensely family-centric event. Gifts are modest and few, in stark contrast to how my American family and friends do things. It’s not necessarily better - though I do prefer the more reasonable approach to presents - but it is different. I don’t know if I’m ready to go back to having American Christmas next year.
Oh well. Here’s some vaguely Christmas-y La Perla lingerie to reward you for reading this far, if you made it past the photo in the first place.

Nice knickers Jackie :-)
Have a safe flight home and a very happy new year
In Australia, Christmas blends smoothly into summer holidays. People stop working just before Christmas, and don’t really start again until February.
