The first freakout of the day comes early

The first thing I had to do this morning was jump out of bed and call an ambulance for Antoine. (Loo handle snapped off, his hand ripping across the jagged, broken bit. I congratulated him for managing to cut himself on perhaps the most bacteria-ridden item in the house. The paramedics winced and looked away when Antoine moved the cloth he was pressing against the cut.) I wasn’t exactly a pillar of strength in this situation, despite which the paramedics got here fine and have swept him off to the Royal Free for stitches. Good thing he got that ‘free’ (£100) tetanus jab last week…

That’s just terrible! Feel better, Antoine.
I’m sure the bacteria comment went over fab. I hope Antoine’s feeling better and avoided gangrene.
[…] I’ve just been through three weeks of intensely negative shit (there is no other word for it) being thrown at me from an unexpected corner, and to say that I have been driven to distraction by things, that I have lost sleep over things, is only part of the story. The other part of the story is that several of my very good friends - people I knew would tell me the truth even if it hurt me - listened, gave advice, and have helped me more than I can say here on this blog. Antoine (I consulted him so much on this matter that I did fear momentarily that his little accident may have been an attempt to change the subject for a while), Peter Revell, Amy Alkon (how great to have a friend who gets paid to give people advice, and who insists on giving it to you for free!), Nancy Rommelmann, Adriana Lukas, and my solicitor David Carr have all been of great assistance to me during a really awful time. Thanks, guys, and please feel free to kick my ass if I ever come to you again with the same exact predicament. Posted by Jackie Danicki | […]
