The more I love
Today was my birthday. Ever since I was a kid, I looked forward to age 32. It sounded, for some reason, like The Grown-Up Age.
Hah!
This reminds me of one of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes:
When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.
I can say without hesitation that the last year has been the most educational of my life. When I look back, I can see very clearly the people who were the constant sources of support, love, and laughter. Some of them put up with an awful lot from me, and I have been making a point in recent months to express to each of them how much I appreciate their tolerance and loyalty. It’s a long list, and I’m still making my way through it. (If you’re getting anxious for your turn to come, feel free to chase me.)
I don’t know how to make this segue in an elegant way, so I will simply say that I keep coming back to this quotation from page 247 of The Color Purple by Alice Walker, a book I re-read as often as possible:
I think us here to wonder, myself. To wonder. To ast. And that in wondering bout the big things and asting bout the big things, you learn about the little ones, almost by accident. But you never know nothing more about the big things than you start out with. The more I wonder, he say, the more I love.

Wish we could have been there too.
Happy B-day.
Have you lost even more weight?
Looking good.
Good, now next time I see you I can fatten you back up.
I wish you guys had been here!
Yes, somehow I managed to go down a size - don’t know how, since I was in NYC living the good life for over a month! Best restaurants, parties, etc. As of one week ago, I’m back to no sugar, no flour and feeling much better.
No more Graeter’s or Jeni’s for us!
Looking great!
