The web is a love machine

I’ve mentioned this before, but there is something liberating about knowing exactly who can read my Twitter updates (only those people I allow to read them). It has been a very handy tool in helping me work toward a big goal I’ve had set for myself this year: to lead the least secretive life possible.

“But,” you say, “how can your life be less secretive if you only open up to a few people?”

It’s 52 people exactly, which is still few, but more than I would open up to previously. I am still intensely private, but it’s a process.

Someone I follow on Twitter (who also follows me, and whose updates are also protected) said on there earlier today that he loves the way the web brings him closer to people - even those who disagree with him. I agree, and Twitter specifically has let me take that up a huge notch.

The web is a love machine.

  1. Would you explain a little more what you mean by living a less secretive life? Do you think it’s a worthwhile goal for everyone, or is a very personal thing for you? Just curious, this is a topic I’ve been thinking about lately.

  2. Mary, I’ve had enough questions about this that I will address it in a new post, methinks. Thanks for asking! I love that the topic has aroused some curiosity.
