Tube attacker update
Just FYI, as a lot of people do email and ask me how things are going: One of my attackers - the one who physically assaulted me and whose picture I took - was charged yesterday with assaulting me. The case will go to court next week, and he plans to plead guilty, as the evidence against him (CCTV footage and his admission of guilt to police being the most compelling, I’d imagine) is pretty conclusive. It’s not necessary for me to attend court, as there is no need for me to give evidence. I always thought I would do so, regardless of the plea, but right now I am so swamped - and in the run-up to another trip to the US - that I think I may pass. I will still submit my statement about how the attack has affected me, but I haven’t even started working on that. Frankly, I am tempted to say that it has hardly affected me at all - I’m not afraid to ride the Tube, I don’t have nightmares about what happened, and most days I do not even think about it - but the answer is more complicated than that.
Anyway, will keep you posted on any other developments.

Why should it matter how it affected you? He did it.
I am ecstatic to hear that your attacker has been brought to justice. I hope enjoys living HMP-style: nothing says luxury London digs like a chamber pot for your plumbing!
Hang ‘em!
This is great news. Is there any precedent for criminals being caught via blogging like this? Whether there is or isn’t, let’s hope it’ll happen more often!
