Twitter in plain English

It’s amazing to me how many important conversations in my life now take place on Twitter. Most of the work-related people I know are on there, as well as personal friends. So when I mention Twitter to non-webby friends (hi, Karri!), it can be hard to explain exactly how it works and what’s so different about it that I find so appealing.

I’d also mention that Twitter is spoiling me for email, blogging, and the phone. That said, I’m going to try to tweak my listen/talk ratio in coming weeks. I’ll let you know how that goes…

  1. I’m still trying to figure out twitter. I haven’t started using it on my phone because I’m afraid I’ll get too many messages and end up with a phone bill the size of the national debt, but maybe I should just give it a try and stop it if it’s too much.

  2. V, I don’t get Twitter messages sent to my phone as an SMS. I do keep up with it on my phone’s web browser or a mobile client like Fring, though.
