Vicarious living was never so geeky

I’ve been a Doc Searls fan for a few years now (yes, Jackie-come-lately); despite not agreeing with everything he says, more often than not he hits the nail on the head with what seems like no effort at all. I’ve bought copies of Cluetrain for friends and colleagues, and referred many more people who actually bought their own. His writing has greatly influenced my thinking not just about blogs, social media, ‘marketing’ and business, but about life and how I am determined to live it.

Guess who’s going to be speaking at the same event as Doc Searls? Yep, that’s right: not me. Antoine will be, though, on Thursday. Would it be beyond the reasonable expectations of a committed relationship to ask him to get my copy of Cluetrain signed? I mean, I know it will be excruciatingly awkward, but I sort of think that’s what love is about.

  1. Wow. I’m flattered.

And I’d be glad to sign anything. I can’t promise legibility, but hey. I can assure you there won’t be any awkwardness. :-)

So, what’s the event? (I go to way too many.)

    Best,

    Doc

  2. Thanks, Doc! (You’re on different panels at the Johnson & Johnson comms event. He’ll be there for your panel, though you might not be there for his, which is in the morning. I’ll make sure he stalks you down, though. Cheers!)

  3. What a pity you won’t be there, Jackie! I’ll be on the lookout for Antoine and as far as Doc, well - he’s as good a guy as they come. Cheers - enjoy Paris!
