View of the snow storm from downtown Cincinnati
Because life is cruel, I was awake at 6.15AM after three hours of sleep, even though the blizzard and its accompanying closures gave me a perfect excuse to sleep as late as I wanted. Luckily, 5chw4r7z and Ms. 5chw4r7z - who were suffering from cabin fever as badly as I was - got up a little bit after I did, so we met up at 8.15 and had a rather lengthy walk around downtown.
First, we kicked around the drifts (which measured up to 30 inches!) in Piatt Park:
Then we hit Fountain Square, where I saw the largest assembly of dump trucks and ploughs I’ve seen in one place. They were taking truckloads of snow out of downtown so that people could walk the sidewalks and businesses could open. (Where do they take all that snow?)
Ingredients was open, so the 5chw4r7z35 grabbed breakfast (I’d made homemade clam chowder for breakfast, because that’s how I act on three hours of sleep) and in the end we spent six hours wandering around downtown before finally heading to our respective homes. My cabin fever has been cured. Tonight’s gonna be all about hot baths, good books, and Scrabulous. I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel to have those options and a warm home.
