Nokia N95 unboxing (yes, I’m a nerd)

I just took possession of a beautiful piece of technology: the Nokia N95, a gift from Qik co-founder Bhaskar Roy (thanks to my lucky charm, Cubic Telecom CEO Pat Phelan for the introduction!).
This isn’t just a phone. It also features a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss 2.8/5.6 autofocusing lens. Check out the gorgeous photos you can take with this monster.
But what really excites me is that it shoots video. I’ve been itching to get Qiking, and now I’ll be able to stream video live from my phone to the web. The audience can also participate via chat on the streaming page. Pretty neat, huh?
The potential for stumbling into the territory of mind-numbingly boring is great, but that goes for all media. What I love about the live streaming mobile video idea is that it’s such a playful tool. Let’s see how creative we can get with it.

Built in GPS, too, which is nice (and worth learning to use, if you haven’t played with that yet. The N95 is a very impressive piece of hardware indeed, and I have sort of toyed with getting one but haven’t actually done so.
I have a slight anti-Nokia bias. The N95 is a very impressive piece of hardware, but the Symbian Series 60 software is a little clunky, I think. Not that Nokia is alone in that.
